Stephanie Shroyer

Texas Mosaic Artist

Stephanie and Cash

When asked how she got into to this medium, Stephanie recalls a shelf her great aunt's china falling and breaking. Not wanting to throw it away, it got put into a box and put in the closet. Two years later she found her mentor and inspiration in a shop in Waco. After a few attempts on her own, she called her for a lesson.

Beginning with the Piquette Assiette technique, she has evolved with a variety of works including more traditional pieces, and a organic and more contemporary line.

* Stephanie resides in Fayette County and has lived in the Fayette County area since 1976, she was a member of the art community there for several years. While in Fayetteville she taught and directed at the Art Guild Of Rural Texas's After school Program. She is a member of LPAA Lost Pines Artisans Alliance as well as the Elgin Art Association and has been awarded ribbons two years in a row in Elgin´s Pearls show.

*She now teaches workshops in her studio, and is very active in the art community in Smithville as Secretary and Children´s Art Director for the Lost Pines Artisan Alliance. Enlightening children to various art mediums is a passion of hers and she has found like minds who enjoy doing the same.

* A four year member of the Society for American Mosaic Artists, she has attended a inspiring convention in Chicago, and is looking forward to this years event in San Deigo.

She shows her work though galleries and art shows through out Central Texas.

Thoughtful contemplation.

Her latest passion is glass, She loves glass! She has been learning lamp work bead making, and glass fusing and now working with tempered glass, and it has become one of her latest obsessions. She started fusing to add elements into the mosaics, and now finds it just as much fun to make functional and decorative pieces on their own. Forming bases with concrete is another direction her imagination has begun to travel, and experimenting with Styrofoam is another.

All of this creativity is done after hours, her day job that pays for her art addiction keeps her busy as well. She is a Violence Prevention Educator for the Family Crisis Center in a four county area.
