Stephanie Shroyer
Commisions and Community Art
Stephanie has had the honor of doing some fantastic projects in her career. Not all mosaics, she is versatile in
restorations of various kinds, faux finishes and much more. She enjoys the challenge of engineering as well as designing
the projects or pieces requested by her clients. Feel free to contact her about a project you are interested in.
Yes she does furniture and guitars too. One collector has three of her guitars.
One of these projects was the opportunity to help restore a historic church in Ellinger Texas back to its Painted Church look.
She hand painted the entire altar and restored all of the statues in St. Mary´s church. It is truly something to see and to
her it was an honor. She started the day after Christmas and completed it by Good Friday. Poetic don´t you think?
One of her first commissions was a large counter top for a woman who owns a barbeque place in Flatonia Texas.
This was several years ago and she has since done several installations similar.
Other current projects include creating wine chillers for a fundraising event for the Governors Mansion in Austin Texas.
Each year they commission a different artist to create the centerpiece/ vases for the event that are sold at the end of the
evening. She was able to work with china custom made for the Friends Of The Governors Mansion by Spode. It was a little difficult
to cut up that china!
In the spring of this year she was commissioned by the Arch Diocese Of Victoria to create a dedication plaque in honor of the wife of
a significant donor for the restoration of their retreat center. The center of focus was a tree on the property that has significant
history in the church.
Stephanie is currently working on a big project in Smithville Texas. She is secretary and Children´s Programs Director to the
Lost Pines Artisans Alliance in the community. She and the group along with the kids of the community are mosaic-ing the skate park
in the town. Yes it is quite monumental, they have been working on it for a year now. The kids are designing their own skate board
decks on mesh at the LPAA art center and then installing them on the walls of the park. Some direct mount is happening too. They hope
to finish the project by the beginning of the 09 school year. a heavy task in the heat of Texas. Check out the groups web page for more
info. lostpinesartisansalliance.org
One more project she likes to brag about is her Art With A Mission program. Stephanie´s Day job is working for the Family Crisis Center
in Bastrop Texas as a violence prevention educator. She created an awareness program with art as the keystone. She met with various
community groups starting with Lost Pines Artisans Alliance, and progressed to Boys and Girls Clubs, Recreation Centers 4 H groups and
the like having each one of the groups create a mosaic human figure speaking out against violence. It was a very non threatening way to
open up dialogue with the different groups, kids as well as adults. The finished pieces continue to speak out by being on tour of
various businesses in the town of Smithville.
One last thing to think about, the artist can make things for gifts using your china and mementos, and photographs too. Think about
what to do with those last few dishes of Grandmas that there is not enough of to go around let Stephanie make some crosses or other gift
items for your family.
Commissions are always welcome. More information on commissions.>>
